Overview

Direct Messages on Twitter are an extremely commonly used feature of the rapidly growing social stream site. While it's pretty straightforward to send a direct message when you're on the site, there are times that you'd probably like to just fire off a message like you would via email. No you can compose and fire off a direct message with just a couple keystrokes using the ul.timate.info Terminal.

How to Use

To send a direct message using the command-line interface, type "d," hit the SPACE bar, and then start to type the user's screen name. As soon as you think you've typed enough for the name to auto-complete, hit the TAB key. If there is more than one match, all of the matches beginning with the fragment you've entered will display. To choose one, continue entering the person's name until it will then successfully complete or the whole name has been entered. Then type the message you'd like to send. Once you've completed the message hit ENTER and your message will be sent. Once the response from Twitter has been received, the Terminal will update.

NOTE: to send a direct message (DM) to anyone on Twitter, you MUST be friends and they user MUST follow you as well.
