Overview

Sure there have been a solid handful of add-ons that bring Twitter additional functionality. The thing is, users desire and can benefit from more functionality than what current add-ons currently offer. Until now, a handful of interesting, but trivial features have been made into add-ons for Twitter in Firefox while non of them really excel in augmenting the core native experience. That's where ul.timate.info has been designed to come in. ul.timate.info is an add-on designed to improve the "native" expereince of Twitter on Firefox. It extends Twitter's functionality far beyond anything offered in the browser and even has some features not available in desktop applications. Contextual controls, use of multiple accounts and even automated timeline refresh delivers a more real-time-esque experience than by using Twitter without ul.timate.info. Try it for a week, and then disable (or dare we even say, remove) ul.timate.info. You'll quickly find yourself an very exasperated and (maybe even a tad bit) sweaty person.

Why?

When I originally create ul.timate.info it was actually called UltimateFacebook. UltimateFacebook has received a very very nice level of acceptance , being downloaded nearly 10,000 times while still within the opt-in experimental sandbox of Mozilla's add-on portal. In the Winter of 2008-9, and as Twitter's popularity began it Power Law-esque ascent, it became clear that, by bringing similar contextual controls that Facebook users have been embraced would not only be a natural evolution of the add-on, but also satisfy a number of personal needs for which I began to yearn as I became more and more of an addict to the stream service.
