Overview

While ReTweeting has become a defacto standard for people in the Twittersphere, there are times when someone's status is better left anonymous. That's where OH or overhearing something comes in. Using the OH, instead of RT, before a status (without including the author's screen name) is a great way to pass info along without, potentially, cooking someone's carcass. ul.timate.info offers users the ability to OH any tweet that they could also RT. Even neater, is that you can, like ReTweeting in ul.timate.info, post OHs to multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously.

Why?

Not long after the core ReTweeting functionality was finished for ul.timate.info, I began noticing friends posting OHs as well. It's was a simple extension of the core RT code and took very little additional time.

How to Use

  • Right-click any update on your Twitter timeline
  • Scroll down to and select "Overheard This"
  • The modal "Overheard This" window will appear
  • Modify the text as necessary
  • Select which accounts to update using the RT via checkboxes
  • Click the "Tweet It" button
  • As updates are posted, the progress window will update
