Overview

Core to Twitter is the concept of following and being followed. However, the only means to actually do so "natively" is either by going to their timeline and clicking the "follow" button under their name and pic/avatar or clicking the "follow" button from the friends/followers pages. ul.timate.info makes it easier to follow users by simply right-clicking their @username. For instance, if someone you're following mentions me, @jasonwiener, all you have to do to follow me is to right-click my name and select "Follow" from the menu that appears. Instantly, a window will appear displaying all of the Twitter accounts you have authorized to use on ul.timate.info and enable you to select which ones you would like to follow me (or any user for that matter that you click). Bingo bango bongo, it'll send the follow request to Twitter and instantly add me (or the person you're trying to follow) to your list.

Why?

As I've begun to use Twitter more continuously, similar desires to what I wanted in my Facebook experience began to pop up. I kept wanting the ability to follow people who are friends or mentioned by people I follow and it was really a pain in the rear. The extra clicks, basically, bugged me. Hence, adding contexual follow/unfollow features to ul.timate.info seemed pretty much like a gimme.

How to Use

From any web page that displays a Twitter user's link or from your Twitter timeline:
  • right-click the link
  • select follow (the Follow window will appear)
  • check/uncheck the boxes of the accounts you wish to follow/unfollow the target user
  • click the yellow button in the lower-right of the window
  • a status window will appear display the success/failure of adding (or removing) the person to each account's follow list.
